Negotiated Rulemaking Committee will meet June 17-18

The fifth meeting of the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee will be on
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 17 and 18, at the Comfort Inn in South Nags
Head.
The committee of 30 members and their alternates is charged with
developing a long-range plan for off-road vehicle use on the Cape
Hatteras National Seashore
The meeting are open to the public, and members of the public can comment at noon each day.
GOALS
• Review proposed approach on Carrying Capacity and determine next steps
• Introduce bird management background information by invited experts
• Invent ideas and options for protecting
natural resources and access at Cape Point, and possibly other areas
• Update on socio-economic study
• Discuss further technical assistance
• Identify additional options for closures in front of Villages
• Develop and organize work over the summer leading up to September meeting
• Obtain input from the public
• Consider other topics, if time allows
