The Coast Guard is searching for a man whose sailboat was discovered aground on the beach in Frisco on Monday, May 1.
Missing is Richard Tomlinson, 82, of Clearwater, Florida. Tomlinson was reportedly sailing from Clearwater to Maine.
MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City and the
crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Rollin Fritch are currently searching
for Tomlinson. The USCG and the Hatteras Island Rescue Squad responded
to a call on 5:30 on May 1 that a 44 ft. sailboat was approaching the
shore with no one aboard.
