Outer Banks Association of REALTORSŪ
Hosts First REALTORŪ Fest & Tech Fair

Last month, The Outer Banks Association of REALTORSŪ (OBAR) hosted their inaugural REALTORŪ Fest & Tech Fair at the R/C Movie Theater in Kill Devil Hills, NC.

The power-packed, local event was designed for real estate professionals but was also open to the public. The 150 REALTORŪ attendees left equipped with the latest tools and data in business development, technology and marketing.

“Here at OBAR, we care about REALTORŪ education and I am honored to play a part in creating helpful, informative and educational experiences for our members,” says 2018 OBAR Education Committee Chair Lesley Moore. “It was very exciting to see so many of our members in attendance.”

The innovative venue which provided movie screens, a Dolby sound system and stadium seating, was the perfect setting for the thirteen presentations held throughout the day.  Various speakers provided information on topics ranging in content from “How to Prepare a Home for a New Buyer,” led by James Skinner, Director of Housekeeping for Brindley Beach Vacations & Sales, to “Utilizing Video in Social Media,” led by Tyler Helms of Tyler Helms Creative. Twenty-eight event exhibitors also shared information on products and services available in professional photography, technology, mold-remediation, security, insurance, and marketing solutions.

“We are so proud of our OBAR staff and all the work they put in to planning the REALTORŪ Fest and Tech Fair,” says 2018 OBAR Education Committee Vice-Chair Debbie Runnells. “This year’s event had great attendance, reflecting the need for information on technology and security in our industry.”

Popcorn and fountain drinks were provided for each attendee and Rooster’s Southern Restaurant catered a boxed lunch. Over 20 technology-related door prizes were given out to attendees, including a grand prize Apple Watch. OBAR thanks event sponsors REALTOR.com, Johns Brothers Security, Bluewater Restoration, SERVPRO of Elizabeth City & Outer Banks, and ShowingTime for helping offset the cost of the event.

“I have received great feedback from attendees. We are already researching to bring more technology education and key presenters to the next event,“ adds Runnells.

The next Outer Banks Association of REALTORSŪ REALTORŪ Fest & Tech Fair will take place in March 2020 at the Kill Devil Hills Movie Theater.
