Hatteras Island Rescue Squad (HIRS), with assistance from the Dare
County EMS and the United States Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet,
rescued five people aboard a disabled vessel in the Pamlico Sound on
Chief Jack Scarborough, an initial call came in at 8:02 p.m. reporting
an 18 foot boat with five people aboard that was disabled and taking on
water in the Pamlico Sound off of Frisco.

his approximate location. The crew located the boat approximately five
miles from shore.

to shore. There were no injuries reported.
