BUXTON — Ray Laymon Williams, 81, went to his heavenly home on April30, 2016 surrounded by family at his home. A native of Buxton, he wasthe son of the late Delmar Williams and Fannie Tolson Williams. Retiredfrom the Dare County School System, Ray was a member of the Buxton FireDepartment and the Lighthouse Assembly of God. He loved his time spenton the beach fishing, but his greatest love was for his family and allof his children, including those of Hatteras Island.
Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clara Williams; two daughters,Pamela Rak of Buxton and Carolyn Kiefer and husband, Kregg, of Buxton;three grandchildren, Michael, Karla and husband, Omar, and Jeffrey andwife, Melissa; seven great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sara, Riley,Chandler, Allen, Isabella and Audrey; and two very loved nieces,Barbara and Mary O’Neal. Along with his parents, Ray was preceded indeath by two sisters, Netta and Virginia, and two special nieces,Patricia and Debra O’Neal.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at the LighthouseAssembly of God. Burial will take place at Quidley Cemetery. The familywill receive friends and relatives on Monday evening from 6:30 until8:00 p.m. at the church.
