BUXTON — Howard KyleSmithwick, 50, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2016 athis daughter’s home, surrounded by his children. He was the son of thelate Barbara Midgett Smithwick. Kyle worked with the NCDOT-FerryDivision from 1988 until 2016. He was a loving father and grandfatherand will be truly missed.
Mr. Smithwick is survived by his children, Christan Lanae Stowe andhusband, Michael, Megan Diane Lyerly and husband, Josh, and Howard KyleSmithwick II; and five grandchildren, Ariana Faith Stowe, MaddixMichael Stowe, Chloe Renae Stowe, Kaya Diane Lyerly and Julius DavidLyerly. Also surviving are three aunts, Debra Midgett Hooper andhusband, Elvin, Licia Midgett Kee and husband, Stan, and Judy Midgett;one uncle, Joe Smithwick and wife, Nancy; and eight cousins, StanleyJames Kee II, Shanna Leigh Kee, Kristina Ann Hooper, Charlotte MidgettLewis, Luke Midgett III, Stanley James Kee III, Charles Weatherby andBrad Weatherby. Kyle also leaves behind a best friend whom he loved asa brother, David Gentry, and wife, Holly.
Along with his mother, Mr. Smithwick was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bryan Midgett; and an uncle, Luke Bradshaw Midgett Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, atLighthouse Assembly of God with Rev. Steve Danser officiating. Areception will follow the service at the Family Life Center. The familywill receive friends and relatives Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:00p.m. at the church.
