Dale Ellsworth Wegner II, 62, of Harrisonburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Dale was born on Jan. 18, 1951, in Roswell, New Mexico. He is son of Dale and Neta Wegner of Harrisonburg and they survive.
Helived in Dowagiac, Mich., until 1958. He attended the Augusta MilitaryAcademy in Augusta County. He continued his education in Harrisonburgpublic schools. He also attended Blue Ridge Community College and anArt School in Charlottesville. Dale moved to Cape Hatteras and livedthere for 26 years. He was a professional fisherman and an accomplishedchef and worked in many of the Cape Hatteras restaurants. He also ownedand operated Sun Waves Construction.
In addition to his parentshe is survived by his first wife, Sherri Jefferson, and his secondwife, Joy Pague, who remain friends to this day.
He isalso survived by his children, Matthew Knicely, Nicholas Wegner, andAlexandra Wegner and very special friends, Fay Baugher and WinnieMeekins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., onWednesday, March 27, at the Harrisonburg Chapel of Kyger Funeral Homeswith Pastor Larris Tolson of Hatteras Island officiating. A time ofvisitation will follow the service.
