SALVO — William “Bill” Ray Snider, 73, passed away onSunday,May 1, 2011. Born on Dec. 4, 1937 in Sidney, Ohio, he was thesonof the late Kenneth Ray Snider and the late Ollie Christina Snider(Helman). He had two siblings, which include his latebrother,Robert, and his surviving sister, Lois. Bill graduated fromHouston High School, Class of 1956, and followed by joining the U.S.Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged after three yearsofservice. Bill married Barbara J. Snider (Robbins) on June 27,1959.
While starting their family, Bill worked for the city of Piqua, Ohio,as the Water System Superintendent, from which he retired after 26years of faithful and dedicated service to the city and itscitizens. Upon retiring, Bill and Barbara became residents ofthetri-villages on Hatteras Island. He soon started his ownbusiness, Bill’s R.V. Service. In addition to being adedicatedworker, he had a passion for fishing, hunting, traveling, and beingwith family. Bill was a respected member of the community andwill be greatly missed by all.
Bill is survived by his lovely wife, Barbara J. Snider, his threechildren, Kathryn A. Snider-Waren and her husband, Thomas, Kenneth W.Snider and Jill Schondelmyer, and Scott A. Snider and wife Lynnette;his four grandchildren, Erin N. Porter and her husband Richmond,Jennifer “Jaki” J. Warren and her fiance Cody Craig, Justin L.Schondelmyer, Emily K. Schondelmyer, and three great-grandchildren,Austin William Snider Porter, Jobell Christine Porter, and Barbara JeanCraig.
The funeral celebrating Bill’s life will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May5, at Fairhaven United Methodist Church with viewing one hour prior tothe service (3 until 4 p.m.). Rev. Tom Murphy will officiateandmilitary honors will be rendered at the conclusion of theservice.
