BUXTON– Rose Marie Waterfield Ballance, 73, of Buxton, NC died Sunday,September 3, 2017, at her home. Born October 18, 1943, in PowellsPoint, she was the daughter of the late Lila Mae Daniels Waterfield andWilbur Eris Waterfield.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband,Millard F. “Tex” Ballance; a son, Frankie Lee Gaskill; and twobrothers, Kenneth Nile Waterfield, Sr. and David Lee Waterfield.
Rose is survived by her children, Donna Lynn Williams (Jarvis) ofBuxton, Douglas E. Dorris, Jr. (Teri), Walter Eris Dorris both ofFrisco and her beloved, “Sassy”; three grandchildren, Annette M.Dorris, Pete A. Dorris (Shelly), and Jarvis Williams, Jr. (Logan); andtwo great-grandchildren, Braylon Dorris and Saylor Williams. Also,surviving is a sister, Cora L. Ballance of Hatteras; a brother, WilburEris Waterfield (Gilda) of Buxton; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2017, atthe Lighthouse Assembly of God Family Life Center (across from CapeHatteras High School) with a reception to follow. Burial will takeplace at the Ballance family cemetery in Buxton. The family willreceive friends and relatives Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pmat the Family Life Center.
