WANCHESE — Larry McCoy BallanceSr. of passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at 85 years old. Hewas born on May 19, 1930 in Hatteras village to the late Walter andJuanita Ballance. Larry was a retired waterman, carpenter, and heavyequipment operator. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Churchin Wanchese. Larry loved old western movies, children, and working inhis garden. He was a kind, gentle man, and was loved by all who knewhim.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorita Ballance; fivechildren, Becky Beacham (Carl), Betsy Midgette (Wayne), Larry BallanceJr. (Carletta), Rev. William “Bill” Ballance (Mary Ann), and CathyDaniels (Mark); sister, Jean Daniels (Elmo); 11 grandchildren, and 23great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by both of his parentsand his siblings, Anna Utley, Tommy Ballance, and Wayne Ballance.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at BethanyUnited Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ballance, Rev. Mark Daniels,Rev. Elmo Daniels and Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Burial willfollow at Tillett Cemetery in Wanchese. The family will receive friendsand relatives on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Twiford FuneralHome in Manteo.
