Island Free Press Joins the North Carolina Press Association
The Island Free Press is proud to announce its recent acceptance as one of the newest members of the longstanding North Carolina Press Association (NCPA.)
The North Carolina Press Association was established in 1873, which makes it one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the United States.
The NCPA is a member-owned and operated nonprofit group which helps to maintain high industry standards, represent the interests and rights of established newspapers throughout the state, and to promote literacy and education through the NC Press Foundation (NCPF). The NCPF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to defend citizens’ right to know, promote civic participation through literacy programs and other educational initiatives, and to fulfill a number of related goals aimed at fostering education and keeping the public continually informed.
Currently, the NCPA has more than 200 newspaper members in the state of N.C. The Island Free Press is delighted to join this esteemed organization, and looks forward to a productive partnership in the years to come.
