Laurie Lilja Martin

KILL DEVIL HILLS — Laurie Lilja Martin, 68, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed peacefully in her home on January 14, 2021 after a long illness.

Born in Arizona and raised in suburban Denver, she was a graduate of Colorado State University. She raised her own children in Norfolk, Virginia, and moved to the Outer Banks several years ago.

Laurie is survived by her longtime partner James Falconer, of Kill Devil Hills; her sister, Jamie Lilja Graham, of Leadville, CO; two daughters, Anne Martin Williams, of Brooklyn, NY, and Chrissy Martin Meier, of Montreaux, Switzerland; and the apples of her eyes, her three grandsons- Jackson, Lindsay, and Sydney. A former pre-school teacher, she saw the good that exists in all little creatures and big ones, too.

In addition to her family, Laurie loved classic rock music, her Denver Broncos, the beach and sailing with her friends at the Colington Harbor Marina and Yacht Club. Her kindness and spirit lives in all the people that she has touched and she will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD) are appreciated. A service will be held in the summer. Condolences may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
