Volunteer Lighthouse Keepers needed for Ocracoke Lighthouse

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore recently announced that they are currently recruiting volunteer Lighthouse Keepers on Ocracoke Island for the 2022 summer season, Memorial Day through Labor Day. The position duties include helping to staff the lighthouse, and to provide basic upkeep of the Light Station site.

This position is based out of the Ocracoke Island District within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and one private bedroom in shared housing is available. This position requires volunteering 32 hours a week for housing to be provided, and folks who are interested in becoming a volunteer lighthouse keeper can apply online at https://www.volunteer.gov/s/volunteer-opportunity/a093d000000XdRTAA0/ocracoke-interpretation-volunteer.
