HATTERAS – John A. Hancock passed away quietly on Tuesday, February 28,2017, in Nags Head, NC. John was a wonderful, fun loving, happyguy. He lived in Hatteras, NC for over 40 years.
John was born in Richmond, VA on January 19, 1946. He lived inRichmond and Williamsburg during his young adult life. John was agraduate of Hermitage High School in Richmond.
While in the Outer Banks, John worked many years for Colony Realty andthe Channel Bass Restaurant. He was loved and greatly respectedby all in the community, and he quietly helped so many people. Hewas a wonderful cook. You could always talk to him and receiveassurance that everything is in God’s hands.
John was the son of the late John Ernest and Elvera Hancock, of MathewsCounty, VA and the brother of the late Wanda Bethea.
He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Holleman, and his brother, Tom T.Hancock. He was a loving uncle to Susan Holleman and DavidHolleman; his great-nephew, Yates Holleman; and his great-grandnephew,Carter Holleman. Also surviving John is his longtime friend,George Becker of Hatteras.
