Williamsburg-area man charged with allegedly stealing boat and trailer from Hatteras Island

A man from the Williamsburg area has been charged with allegedly stealing a boat and trailer from Hatteras Island earlier this month.

According to a Dare County Sheriff’s Office press release, a 23-foot Carolina Skiff boat on a 2010 boat trailer valued at over $50,000 was reported stolen from Rodanthe on May 11.

Bernard L. Wilson, 70, of Toano, Virginia, was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony larceny and felony possession of stolen property.

He has been released from the Dare County Detention Center after posting a $5,000 unsecured bond. Wilson was scheduled for a first appearance hearing in Dare County District Court on Thursday.
