Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Announces Final Results of 61st Annual Surf Fishing Tournament
The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club 61st Annual Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament was held November 7-10, 2018. Despite some rough surf, heavy rain and windy conditions, 120 teams braved the beach and caught a total of 1,153 fish. This tournament is the largest of its kind in the world, with 120 teams and 720 anglers participating. It attracts over 800 visitors to Hatteras Island for the week.
Overall Results
The Outcasters, an all-women’s team from the Outer Banks, took first place overall with 47 fish totaling 218 points. The team Captain was Jean Flannigan, with members Stephanie Bayne, Audrey Whitlock, Sharon Newbold, Ginger Knight and Angie Gaskins. Congratulations to this team who fished hard and beat the 2nd place team by 109 points!
Placing second was The “F” Team with 54 fish and 109 points, followed by the Eastern Shore Anglers with 13 fish and 128 points.
