After closing for multiple days due to damage caused by last week’s Subtropical Storm Melissa, Avon Fishing Pier announced on Wednesday that they will be reopening on Thursday, October 16, at 7 a.m.
Days of battering waves caused a split towards the end of the pier, but the first half of the pier – a roughly 250-350 ft. section – had minimal damage, and this section will be open to anglers starting on Thursday morning. The second half of the 670 ft. pier, however, will be closed for the remainder of the 2019 season, as more intensive repairs are planned and implemented.
The Avon Pier House will also be open beginning on Thursday. Hours at the popular fishing pier will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, (weather permitting), for the remainder of the 2019 season.
