CHEC awarded three scholarships to local seniors Anna France, Dylan Gray and Sophie Waterfield. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 each semester that the students meet GPA qualifications, for up to eight semesters.
Anna France, daughter of Jeff and Brittany France of Buxton, will attend Meredith College in the fall. Anna plans to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and hopes to one day return to Hatteras Island to open her own business.
Dylan Gray, son of Damon and Kristin Gray of Hatteras, will attend either University of North Carolina in Wilmington or North Carolina State University in the fall. He plans to major in Wildlife Biology and pursue his dream of returning to eastern North Carolina to work with migratory waterfowl.
Sophie Waterfield, daughter of Timmy and Susan Waterfield of Buxton, plans to attend Appalachian State University in the fall. Sophie will study Spanish Education and hopes to study abroad during her time in college.
