Dare County announces Memorial Day closures; No changes to trash collection schedule

Share post:

All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. These offices and facilities will reopen and operate with their regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, May 27.

The scheduled holiday closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill, Manns Harbor Transfer Station, Buxton Transfer Station and Manteo Recycle Yard. However, Dare County Public Works—which only provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of the county as well as the Town of Kitty Hawk—has announced that there will be no changes to the Dare County Public Works trash collection schedule for the week of Memorial Day 2025.

All areas whose trash collection and sanitation services are provided by the Dare County Public Works Department will therefore operate on their normal schedule during the week of Monday, May 26, through Friday, May 30.

Commercial trash collection will also take place on Saturdays in the Town of Kitty Hawk, as well as the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras, beginning on Saturday, May 31, and continuing through Labor Day.
