The Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series, in collaboration with the North Carolina Symphony, is thrilled to announce a free Community Concert.
This special event will feature performances by the Symphony’s String Quartet and Wind Quintet. Scheduled for Monday, March 4, at 7:00 p.m., the concert will take place in the auditorium at Cape Hatteras Secondary School.
Audiences can look forward to a program that includes works by Mozart alongside compositions from contemporary talents such as Fred Farkas, Jurriaan Andriessen, and Jessie Montgomery. Highlighting the event will be a special appearance by the Hatteras Island Community Strings’ ukulele students, who will showcase their skills developed under the mentorship of NC Symphony bassist and ukulele virtuoso Erik Dyke.
This concert marks a key component of a broader initiative aimed at enriching music education within local schools.
The visiting ensembles will engage students at various educational institutions, including Ocracoke School, Waters Edge Village School in Corolla, Cape Hatteras Secondary School, and Cape Hatteras Elementary School.
These educational efforts are generously supported by a grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation, emphasizing the Symphony’s commitment to fostering musical education across North Carolina.
