Share post:

The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras is launching a summer-long series of talks on all things Outer Banks.

Kicking off next week, the Salty Dawgs Lecture Series welcomes guest lecturers to speak every Tuesday morning through Aug. 26 about topics that may touch on everything from local families, foods, and lifestyles to shipwrecks, pirates, or lost colonies.

The Rev. Bart Muller will begin the summer series at 11 a.m. Tuesday in his talk about the 20th New York United Turner Rifles, a New York-established regiment whose foreign-speaking members participated in the landing and battles of Forts Hatteras and Clark. Muller will discuss the origins of the regiment’s movement, German nationalism, immigration and its history after Hatteras, according to a release.

The complete schedule for this year’s Salty Dawgs Lecture Series is on the museum’s website.

Reservations are not required for the event, and it is being offered at no charge. For additional information, call 252-986-0723.
