8th Annual Dare2Care OBX Shred Fest returns to Rodanthe on May 17

After a successful event at the Rodanthe Skate Park in 2024, the organizers of the annual Shred Fest – a celebration of music, art, food, and of course sports – are bringing the celebration back to the Tri-Villages for the second year in a row.

The annual spring event attracts X-Games athletes, skaters, BMX bikers, and thrill-seekers of all ages, with live demos that consistently wow the crowd.

2025’s Shred Fest also has some new additions, which include a special guest appearance from famed BMX rider Ryan Nyquist.

“He has 16 X-Games medals, 60 Dew Tour Finals, and 39 X-Games competition starts,” said organizer Lisa Brickhouse. “He was inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in 2023 and was the Women’s USA Olympic BMX Freestyle Head Coach for the past two Summer Olympics – 2020 in Tokyo and 2024 in Paris – [and] he’ll be riding with Chain Reaction Action Sports.”

2025’s Shred Fest will also include a fingerboarding competition along with a live chainsaw carving, in addition to the return of the BMX crew and skateboarding crew who have been fixtures of the annual event.

The free and family-friendly Shred Fest will also feature a Veterans Honoring Ceremony, (as the event coincides with Armed Forces Day), fire dancing, a Family Fun Zone, artisan vendors, a silent auction, food and beverages, and much more, with proceeds benefitting a number of local nonprofit organizations.

While the live-action sports demos are a starring attraction, music is a cornerstone of the annual Shred Fest, and live music throughout the day includes Izzy Helif, Dert, Moaning Lisa, War God, Ta Na Jah, and the Kaloum Dejembe Drum Circle.

With more entertainment and enticements than ever before, OBX Shred Fest’s return to Rodanthe on May 17 is sure to make waves with sports and music fans of all ages.
