Event schedule announced for 2022 Blackbeard’s Pirate Jamboree on Ocracoke Island

Organizers of the annual Blackbeard’s Pirate Jamboree recently announced the schedule for the upcoming 2022 event, which is being held on October 28 and October 29 on Ocracoke Island.

The Jamboree commemorates the last days of Blackbeard the pirate, who was killed off Ocracoke on Nov. 22, 1718. The popular event features an array of activities and attractions, including a pirate parade, Colonial encampments, sword fights, music, lectures, artifacts, reenactments, and much more.

The event is free and open to the public, and the schedule for the two-day festivities is listed below.

Schedule for 2022

Friday, Oct. 28

11 a.m. – Kevin Duffus talks about the weekend on WOVV 90.1 FM

Noon to 1 p.m. – Kevin Duffus signs his book “The Last Days of Black Beard” at Books to be Red

2-5 p.m. – Brigands Bazaar opens on the Berkley Manor grounds

6:30 p.m. – Inside the Berkley Barn: The Motley Tones sing some rollicking tunes

7 p.m. – The 1952 movie, “Blackbeard the Pirate,” with Robert Newton, who has been called the “ultimate pirate actor of the silver screen.”

Saturday, Oct. 29

9 a.m. – The Colonial Village opens. A cannon blast wakes up Ocracoke. Vendors open.

10 a.m. – A Pirate Parade! With all the colonials and anyone who wants to join in with the walking giant Blackbeard puppet and Jimmy Bones. Musters at Ride the Wind and ends at the encampment.

10:30 a.m. – Motley Tones perform at the Berkley Barn 11 a.m. -Two pirate ships (MEKA II and Adventure) invade Silver Lake. 11:30 a.m. – Kevin Duffus presents: “Why was Blackbeard on Ocracoke?”

12:30 p.m. – Shadow Players perform at the Berkley Barn

1-1:40 p.m. – Motley Tones perform in the Berkley Barn

2 p.m. – Three-boat battle in Silver Lake between Blackbeard and Maynard. “Battle of Ocracoke.” Tune in to WOVV 90.1 FM, on your cell phones to hear Duffus’s narration of the event online at www.Radio.Garden and drag the circle to Ocracoke or go to www.WOVV.rocks and at the top of the home page, click “Listen live.”

4-4:45 p.m. – The Sword Circle performs at the Berkley Barn.

5 p.m. – The 14th Annual Blackbeard Pirate and Royal Navy Memorial Service, honoring the fallen of both Blackbeard’s and Maynard’s crews. Inside Berkley Barn.

6 p.m. – The 2022 Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree concludes with a final cannon blast.

Nighttime activities at island bars & restaurants continue.
