HATTERAS– Irma Midgett Austin, 99, died on Oct. 9, 2014, eight days shy of her100th birthday, at Colony Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Bornin Waves, she was the daughter of the late Ignatious and Cora Midgett.Irma was a homemaker, the widow of Fred B. Austin, Jr. and a member ofthe Hatteras United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Austin is survivedby a daughter, Cora A. Simmons of Buxton; a son, Barry Austin ofHatteras; three grandchildren, Anthony Simmons of Greenville, KerrySimmons and Kevin Simmons, both of Frisco; five great-grandchildren,Clay Simmons, Corey Simmons, Wayne Simmons, Daniel Simmons and JenniferSimmons; and two grea- granddaughters, Faith Simmons and MalayaSimmons.
A funeral will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m.at the Hatteras United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Davenport andRev. Dwight Burris officiating. Burial will take place at OdenCemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at TwifordFuneral Home, Hatteras on Saturday from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
