AVON– Warren Gaskins Jr., 61, passed away while at home with his family onMay 5, 2015. He was born May 26, 1953, in Buxton to WarrenGaskins Sr. and the late Elizabeth Gaskins. As a Coast Guardfamily, they moved often before settling in Chesapeake, Va. Warren graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1971 and met DeniseDorsett whom he married in November of 1973. They began theirfamily in Chesapeake before returning to Hatteras Island.
Warrenfounded his heating and air conditioning business, Hatteras Island Air,in 1985. Through years of tireless work and dedication, he builta business with an excellent reputation for quality, honesty, andservice. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, HatterasIsland Air is a legacy which Warren was proud to place in the capablehands of his son, Tater. Through example, he instilled his strongwork ethic and the courage to pursue one’s dreams in hischildren. He was generous man, always willing to help those inneed.
Warren is survived by his wife, DeniseGaskins; son, Warren “Tater” Gaskins III and wife Jennifer; daughterAntoinette Mattingly and husband Bryan; daughter Amanda Tucker andhusband Jeremy; grandchildren, Olivia, Foster, Sumner, Jackie Lynn,Libby Ann, Cheyanne, Jane Louise, and Ellis. He is also survivedby his father, Warren O. Gaskins Sr.; sister, Sheila Crowe, and husbandRon, and a large extended family.

Afuneral service will be held in St. Johns United Methodist Church onSaturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held for friendsand family at St. Johns from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening. Warren will be buried privately in the Ellis A. Gray Family BurialGround.
