BUXTON– Vandetta Midgett Gray, 83, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at herhome. A native of Buxton, she was born on May 26, 1933 to the lateLaura Vandetta M. Midgett and William M. Midgett.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ray Gray Sr.; daughter,Rauna Conner (Johnny), son, Ray Gray Jr. (Paulette), daughter-in-law,Wendy Gray Hudnell (John); grandchildren, Marsha Holmes (Jim), AngelaTawes (Neil), John Conner III (Dara), Rebecca Salyers (Travis), AlexGray (Kelsey) and mother, Claudette Gray, Max Gray and mother, ChristyBrooks (Jeff), Micah Gray, Drake Ferruzzi (Liz), Kyler Ferruzzi; andten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, LandryGray, as well as her parents and eight siblings.
Vandettawas a member of Eastern Star and Buxton United Methodist Church. Sheloved plants and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with herfamily and friends, especially her grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Buxton UnitedMethodist Church. Private entombment will take place at theGray-Midgett Cemetery. Per her request, no flowers please.Contributions may be made to Hatteras Island Angel Gift, P.O. Box 310,Hatteras, NC 27943, in Vandetta’s memory.
