AVON– Chauva Miguel Donnelly, 42, passed away at Pitt County MemorialHospital in Greenville, N.C. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Hejoins his beloved mother Margie, and leaves behind his brother, FrankieCarmello Hopkins, his wife, Beth Hayes Donnelly and her children Ayden,Alastar, and Maya Damitio, his aunt and uncle Linda and Steve Watkins,his cousins Eric and Andrea Watkins & nephews Oakley and Branson,his niece Layla, his grandmother Helen Himmel, and his and hundreds offriends on Hatteras Island.
Chauva’smark on everyone he met was undeniable. He was a kind-hearted andgenerous soul who would give a friend the shirt off his back, but whohesitated to ever ask for help in return.
APasadena Maryland native but a Kinnakeeter at his core, Chauva was atrue individual with no equal when it came to his unapologetic freespirit, his open heart, and his deviously infectious sense of humor.Everyone who met him would walk away with an unforgettable impressionand usually a crazy story or two, and he was known for accepting andcharming everyone he knew, without judgement, and with a contagioussmile.
Chauvawas a masterful carpenter, an unparalleled storyteller, an unabashedadventurer, an eloquent surfer, a ridiculously smooth talker, a slypoker player, a beloved uncle, a competitive fishermen, an originatorof catch phrases, a charismatic ladies’ man, and above all else, anexceptional and unselfish friend.
Collectively,he leaves behind thousands of memories and a community that will neverforget him. An extraordinary individual who could never be replicated,Chauva will remain legendary and loved by anyone who was lucky enoughto have him drift into their life.
Amemorial paddle-out to celebrate Chauva is being planned for October21, 2017. A community gathering was also held on Thursday at Turner’sHigh Moon Bar with dozens of his close friends.
