WANCHESE — April Michelle Pope, 42, of Wanchese, passed away quietly in her sleep on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. April was born in Elizabeth City, NC, on August 2, 1982. She was the daughter of Camilla Payne Piercy of the home and the late Robert “Bobby” Pope of Suffolk, VA.
She is survived by her mother, Camilla Piercy and her brother, Adam Pope, both of the home. Also surviving is her brother, Stephen Piercy; step-dad, Philip Piercy, both of Nashville, TN; future sister-in-law, Kathy Horne; step-sister, Tiffany Piercy; aunts and uncles, Tim and Gerry Heath of Wanchese and John and April LaCount of Manteo; and many cousins (Daniel, Deborah, Daphnie, Andy, Joshua, Jackie, Hunter, Jessika, Rollin, Jillian, Tabitha, Felicity, Harmony, Elizabeth, Melody, Nathaniel, Elijah, Judah, Aslan, Blue, Chayse and Brecken) who will miss her.
To say that April Michelle was loved is an understatement. Everyone she met loved her, and she loved everyone. She loved her church, Wanchese Assembly of God, and was there for every event possible. April was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She loved her family dearly, but her lifeline was her “Gammie.” Wherever Gammie went, April went. April loved babies and animals.
April was preceded in death by her father Bobby; her grandparents, Joseph and Betty Pope, of Suffolk; and Corbet and Trudy “Gammie” Payne, of Wanchese, NC.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
