Dunn was lost in a boating accident in early March that also took the life of Charlie (Griff) Griffin. The obituary for Chad Dunn was released on March 19.

WANCHESE — Charles James Dunn (Chad) passed away in a boating accident on March 4, 2024. He was born on December 21, 1987, and lived his entire life in Wanchese, NC. Chad is survived by his two precious children, Bayla Waves Dunn and Charles Shoal Dunn, his parents Charlie and Carol, his brother Carson and wife Mary-Vaughan, along with his beloved Joni and Ian, Eli, and Dylan, as well as his faithful companions Reba, Stormy, and Bailey. Chad was blessed with an extended family of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Chad was a passionate outdoorsman who always enjoyed the view out his office window, whether it be from a boat or duck blind! Chad said he doesn’t have a job, “I do what I love every day!”
joint celebration of lives for Chad Dunn and Charlie Griffin will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 1 pm – 5 pm at the Pavilion at Pirate’s Cove Marina in Manteo, NC. If you have pictures and stories, please bring them with you to share with the families.
