Elizabeth Austin Midgett, 90, of Hatteras, NC died Wednesday, March 31, 2021, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Kitty Hawk, NC.
A native of Hatteras Island, she was born September 8, 1930, to the late Ellen Peele Austin and Luther Lathan Austin.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Midgett was preceded in death by her husband, Stockton “Stocky” Midgett; and brother, Lathan Austin.
She is survived by her daughter, Libby Ann Snearer (Elwood Everett) of Kitty Hawk; sons, Ted Midgett (Beth), Tim Midgett (Trisha), and Richie Midgett (Cheryl Warren) all of Hatteras; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
There are no words to define a woman like Ms. Libby! She was a strong pillar in her family and community. Despite anything else going on in our worlds, we could always count on her unwavering consistency in her love and service to her family and/or anyone brought into her home for that matter. She was an anchor in a sea of crazy head-strong Midgetts. Truly an amazing woman, the matriarch of her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Rest In peace Mom, Mommom, and Ms. Libby to many others.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Oden Cemetery in Hatteras.
