Glenn Keith Davenport

July 31, 1952 – April 25, 2019

ALVA, FLORIDA — Glenn Keith Davenport, 66, a resident of Labelle, FL and Alva, FL since 2009, formerly of Manteo, NC, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019, in Cape Coral, FL. He was born July 31, 1952, in Portsmouth, VA to Glenn and Mary Davenport, now deceased.

Glenn had a huge heart! He loved the Lord and his family, always doing what he could to put them first and make them happy no matter what. He was an avid fisherman and had a love for the water from the time he was just a young 17 years old when he began to freelance mate on charter boats heading out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. After having his girls, he settled down for a while and worked managing Prudential Insurance Company in Norfolk, VA. But his love for the deep sea and fishing never did leave his blood, so he headed back to charter fishing and purchased his dream boat, the Flying Fisherman and was the Captain on that for the rest of his years on the water. Once his fishing years came to an end, he obtained his Real Estate Broker’s License in both NC and FL; and teamed up with his wife, Mary to form a very successful ReMax brokerage, making one amazing team! Glenn will be remembered for his love for life! He could tell a fish tale like no other. And anyone that knew him, knew it may take a while for him to tell that story…but it would be well worth the wait.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 25 years, Mary M. Davenport of Alva, FL; five loving children, Lisa Urquhart (Michael) of Portsmouth, VA, Megan Gray (Mac) of Manteo, NC, Dawn Davenport of Manteo, NC, Amy Daniels (Kurt) of Wanchese, NC, and Chris Kittinger (Raine) of Huntington, WV; sister, Patricia Hudson (Bob) of Portsmouth, VA; as well as ten grandchildren, Austin, Michael, Justin, Ivy, Will, Mason, Madison, Devon, Katie and Jack.

A funeral will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC. Burial will follow in Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Miracle Network in memory of Glenn Keith Davenport at www.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org.

Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
