SOUTHERN SHORES — Jacob Allen “Jake” Heisey, 87, of Southern Shores, NC, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 21, 1935 in Hummelstown, PA to the late Jacob S. Heisey and Clare E. Daubert Heisey.
Jake was a 1953 graduate of Hummelstown High School, where he excelled in sports and academics. In 1955 he began his 35-year career with the Coca-Cola Company. He held positions in sales, management and marketing in Harrisburg, PA; Cleona, PA; Richmond, VA; and Baltimore, MD. He retired in 1990 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the Baltimore Division of Coca-Cola Enterprises. After retiring he became a legislative consultant in PA, MD, VA, and NC for Coca-Cola Enterprises for 10 years. He was a past President of the PA Coca-Cola Bottlers Association and past board member of Soft Drink Associations in PA, MD, VA, and NC.
Jake was an avid golfer. He and his wife were past members of Hershey Country Club, Hershey, PA, Willow Oaks CC, Richmond, VA, Chartwell CC, Severna Park, MD, Two Rivers CC, Williamsburg, VA, and Duck Woods CC, Southern Shores, NC. When he wasn’t on the links, he enjoyed going to the beach with family, fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing poker, watching sports, and watching Western movies. Later in life, his greatest joy was spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All of his family, friends, and co-workers knew him as a kind, generous man with a welcoming smile who loved to tell stories or a good joke.
Jake is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara A. Weikel Heisey; three children, Shelby E. Boltz of Williamsburg, VA, Brian K. Heisey (Laurel) and Jennifer L. Klotz (Steve), both of Southern Shores, NC; four grandchildren, Clare E. Dalton (John), Jacob G. Heisey (Sarah), Shelby K. Spry (Heath) and Samuel J. Klotz; three great-grandchildren, James B. Dalton, Samuel A. Dalton, and Liam G. Heisey; four sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister.
The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at the Outer Banks Hospital for their care and attentiveness. In accordance with Jake’s wishes, the simplicity of cremation will be honored, with no services planned. Donations in his memory can be made to the organization of your choice.
