John Neal Webb, Sr.

The family is sad to announce the death of John Neal Webb, Sr. John was born on VJ Day, August 14, 1945, and died May 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. John lived a full and happy life, growing up in Orange, VA, with two sisters and numerous cousins who have remained close.

After graduating from Ferrum College, John enlisted in the Army and served in the Reserves for 26 years as a Drill Sergeant. He was a volunteer fireman as a young man and again in his retirement in Southern Shores, NC. He retired from VDOT after a long career and spent the following years traveling with his wife, Evelyn. They travelled all 50 states together, driving their RV from coast to coast.

John had a beautiful voice and sang in church choirs his whole life, most recently sharing fellowship in the Outer Banks Chorus and the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church Choir for the past 17 years. He lived a life of service to his community through volunteering at food banks, Habitat for Humanity, and church outreach.

He was a UVA football fan and loved a good tailgate and a family party. He had a big laugh and an open heart and will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn Webb, children Robynn Hilliard (Erik), Neal Webb (Beth), Bill Rippe (Kelly), and Lisa Moore (John). He leaves seven grandchildren, Andrew (Lyn) and Sam Webb, Jack and Adam Hilliard, Morgan Rippe, and Abby and Tyler Moore. He also leaves two sisters, Carolyn Rogers and Jean Britt, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per John’s request, there will be no formal funeral ceremony. If you would like, please feel free to make a donation to the Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department or Outer Banks Presbyterian Church.
