Rapture Pauleen “Bobbie” Butler, 81, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 14, 2025, while vacationing with family in Kill Devil Hills, NC. She was born on December 29, 1943, to the late Clifford R. Evenson and May Evenson.
Bobbie enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables and spent many hours in the kitchen doing so. She enjoyed giving away her product even more and was known to “load up” anyone who came by to visit. She was also an avid reader, churchgoer, and lifelong nurse educator. She loved her loyal dog, Stetson, who was always by her side.
She earned a Master’s degree from Old Dominion University and worked for many years for Bon Secours in Hampton Roads, most notably at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, where she impacted generations of new nurses and made lifelong friends.
More than anything, she enjoyed her family, particularly around Christmas and Thanksgiving, as well as her annual trip to the OBX with her brother and sister-in-law.
“Grandy” as she was known to her grandsons, will be dearly missed by many. She is survived by her sons, David K. Butler, Jr. (Penny) and Donald K. Butler (Kimberly), her beloved grandsons, who could do no wrong, Dylan K. Butler and Daniel K. Butler (Haven), and her great-granddaughter, Molly Grace Butler. She also leaves behind her brother Reid E. Evenson (Joni), and a host of family members and dear friends from work, church and Sunday school. Bobbie was predeceased by her sister Rita K. Evenson (Phillip) and her brother Dallas K. Evenson.
The family will consider a memorial in the future. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to an animal shelter or the American Nurses Foundation.
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
