Extended ORV Hours for Fireworks Spectators at Ramp 38

Share post:

Cape Hatteras National Seashore wants to inform park patrons that Off-Road Vehicles (ORVs) may remain on the beach at Ramp 38, which is immediately South of Avon village and the Avon Fireworks site.

Ramp 38 will remain open until 10:30 PM. All other ramps will be closed to ORVs at the regular time of 9:00 PM. Ramp 34 is accessible by pedestrians only, via its boardwalk.

Park staff requests that all ORVs at Ramp 38 remain in place after the fireworks until 10:00 PM to allow pedestrians to safely exit the beach first, and then allow ORVs to exit after pedestrians. All ORVs are to exit the Ramp by 10:30 PM. Cape Hatteras National Seashore will have multiple employees on hand to monitor and assist nesting sea turtles during the fireworks.

A few reminders for the holiday weekend:

The fireworks display, permitted by and in cooperation with the National Park Service, will begin about 9:15 p.m. on July 4 from a launch site at the end of the Avon Pier.  The show, presented by PYROTECNICO, lasts about 20 minutes.
