Dare County Library offers beach clean-up kits for residents and visitors

Share post:

The Dare County Library now offers residents and visitors who want to volunteer to help keep the local beaches clean the opportunity to check out one of their Litter Clean-Up Kits through the ‘Library of Things’ program.

These kits are available at the Hatteras Library, Kill Devil Hills Library, and Manteo Library, and each kit contains a five-gallon bucket, four litter grabbers, two trash bags, two pairs of disposable gloves, and a Surfrider beach cleanup data card.

Kits may be checked out for one week, and Litter Clean-Up Kits should be returned to the library during business hours.

10 smaller litter grabbers, provided by the Surfrider Foundation, are available for checkout. These smaller grabbers are suitable for both adults and children.

Click on the Dare County Library’s catalog link and type in “Litter Kit” in the subject search field to read about the kits and to reserve one today. (A direct link can also be found here.)

For more information on shoreline cleanups, check out the Beach Cleanup Guides by the Surfrider Foundation.
