The National Park Service has opened an investigation into an unauthorized entry of the Bodie Island Lighthouse between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Details about the break-in were not released due to the ongoing probe of the case, according to a statement from Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Anyone with information related to this incident are asked to contact the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch (ISB). Call or text the ISB Tip Line at 888-653-0009 or submit a tip at www.nps.gov/isb.

The lighthouse remains open to the public for climbing on a daily basis through October 13, according to NPS spokesperson Mike Barber.

Climbing tickets go on sale at 7 a.m. and may only be purchased on the same day of your intended climb.

Tickets are only available for purchase online at www.recreation.gov/ticket/252034/ticket/10087143.

The Seashore advises visitors to create a www.recreation.gov account prior to the date you intend to purchase tickets.

The Double Keeper Quarters at Bodie Island Light Station remains closed indefinitely following a fire that damaged the historic structure in January.
