The Dare County Sheriff’s Office says another suspicious fire was reported in the Waves community on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 p.m.  This fire involved a storage shed at 25215 E. Midgett Way.  This is the same neighborhood as the three previous suspicious fires.  The fire severely damaged a shed.

A Dare County Sheriff’s Office deputy was in the neighborhood when the fire was reported and responded.  Fire investigation specialists from the State Bureau of Investigation were also consulted on this fire as they have been on the others.  Numerous interviews have been conducted with residents and witnesses.  So far, there have been no arrests.

A third fire has damaged a house in Waves  – on the same street that a fire badly damaged a house on Feb. 5 and in the same neighborhood that a fire destroyed a house on Feb. 9.

The fire at 25223 Sea Vista Drive involved a hot tub and fence and was called into the Sheriff’s Office at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19.  There was also minor damage to the house.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement and fire investigators were able to determine from evidence at the scene that the Feb. 19 fire was set. 

The previous two fires are also under investigation. Officials are conducting community canvasses and interviews in order to gain more information on this latest incident, as well as the others.

Items of evidence from the first two fires have been collected and submitted for analysis.  Experts from the State Bureau of Investigation have also been contacted. 

Any with information should contact the Dare County Sheriff’s Office at 252-475-5980, Dare County Investigator Phil Tokazowski at 252-475-9353, or the Dare Community Crime Line at 800-745-2746.  A reward will be offered for information that leads to an arrest.
