Power outages are planned for Avon and the tri-villages
The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative is planning power outages next week in Avon, and Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo for maintenance and upgrades for the Avon Substation.
The work will require these temporary interruptions on electric service:
Avon. Monday morning, April 26, from 12:05 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. and Friday morning, April 30, from 12:05 a.m. until 2:30 a.m.
Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo. Monday morning, April 26, two 10-minute outages between 12:05 a.m. and 1:05 a.m. and Friday morning, April 30, two 10-minute outages between 12:05 a.m. and 1:05 a.m.
A temporary transformer will be placed in the Avon Substation to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of the electric facilities. The disruptions are necessary on Monday morning to place the temporary transformer into service and on Friday morning to remove it once work is complete.
No disruption of service is anticipated for Buxton, Frisco, or Hatteras village.
In the event of inclement weather, the scheduled Monday, April 26, outage may be moved to Tuesday, April 27, during the same hours.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience,” CHEC said in a media release.
