Damage from Helene to blame for Spectrum outage on Outer Banks
Damage caused by the remnants of Major Hurricane Helene are being blamed for causing an outage for much of Friday of Spectrum internet and cable television services on the Outer Banks.
“There is a service interruption in that area,” said Charter spokesperson Scott Pryzwansky. “Our lines were damaged due to the storm.”
Pryzwansky did not share specific details about the location of the damage.
Spectrum is the largest cable internet and TV service provider in the state, and there has been catastrophic flooding across a large section of their service territory.
Several damaging tornadoes have been reported in the Triangle and eastern North Carolina this afternoon.
“Our technical teams are working to restore services as quickly as possible for those impacted customers,” Pryzwansky said. “We apologize for the service interruption.”
While customers have been told service will be restored by 7 p.m., Pryzwansky did not provide an estimated restoration time.
09-28-2024 @ 7:15 a.m………KDH….still…complete outage……needless to state…Spectrum stinks….property in Virginia(Verizon)…still running strong….KDH needs Verizon….NEVER any issues….per my conversation with spectrum yesterday(friday)….I was told a “line” was cut…..so which is it….storm or line cut????
^ A storm can cut the line, as well as heavy equipment dealing with storm. So what they stated is correct either way.
This is ridiculous, I swear to god if I miss the next episode of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City because of an outage, I’m leaving the island!!!!
An ‘island person’ would not know service is out, nor would they care..
Good morning. Is anyone else’s internet still down in kitty hawk this morning?
