On July 12, 2021, at approximately 10:3.0. pm, a Deputy working the C-District responded to an EMS call for a person acting unstable at a residence in the 40100 Block of Hwy 12, Avon NC. When the Deputy arrived, the person attacked the Deputy scratching and biting the facial area. The assailant also tried to take the Taser and Handgun out of the Deputy’s holsters during the altercation. The Deputy was able to gain control of the assailant and place them in handcuffs.
Jorge Ugata Roario, M/24, Student from Dominican Republic, was arrested and charged with (F) Assault on a Law Enforcement Official and currently being held on a $100,000 secured bond issued by the Judge at the First Appearance.
On July 20, 2021, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a Deputy working the B-District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on NC 345 near Skyco Road heading towards Wanchese, NC. During the traffic stop the Deputy smelled an odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was done and an amount of Ecstasy, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms, Marijuana and THC Cartridges were located and seized. Jin Korea Choe, M/35, Durham NC, was arrested and charged with 3 counts of (F) Possession of Schedule I and (F) Possession of Schedule VI. Choe was released on a $6,000 secured bond.
