Share post:

New support vessels, infrastructure improvements and rebounding ridership levels were highlights of a busy year for the North Carolina Ferry System.

This year’s notable milestones include the addition of five tugs and two barges to the Ferry System’s support fleet, a project to repair hurricane damage at the Ocracoke Welcome Center and the dorms in Ocracoke used to house ferry employees. Other notable items this year included workplace improvements at the State Shipyard in Manns Harbor and the popular third season of the state-run passenger ferry called the Ocracoke Express.
