NC State researchers ask for community’s input in Hatteras and Ocracoke Island survey

Researchers with North Carolina State University (NCSU) are asking Hatteras and Ocracoke Islanders to assist with an ongoing study on adaptation challenges and strategies by filling out an online survey.
“The study seeks to understand the relationships between residential connections and preferences for adaptation strategies that may reduce future storm-related flooding on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands,” stated a press release about the initiative.
“The survey is targeting residents and homeowners between Rodanthe and Ocracoke. The survey being shared with you will ask you various questions about your relationship with your community and region, how these relationships might change as a result of adaptation actions, and what your priorities are for your community and region. The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete.”
NCSU researchers will share the results with members of the study’s Community Research Team, (which consists of residents from Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras, and Ocracoke) in the hopes that it may support community-driven requests for project funding that reduce future storm-related flooding.
