Severe Thunderstorms Possible for Friday Afternoon and Evening

A few strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds will be possible across the Outer Banks this afternoon and early evening, per a Friday morning update from the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office.

Widely scattered showers are expected to develop late in the morning and early afternoon, with a broken line of showers and storms likely pushing through between 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. No excess rainfall or coastal flooding is currently forecast, but a high threat of rip currents remains in effect from 8 a.m. on Friday until 8 p.m. on Friday night.
