FRISCO– Louis Martin Buttke (Bud), 83, husband of Karen Ann Buttke, son ofthe late Louis Francis Buttke and the late Helen Gould Buttke, passedaway on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at his residence. Born inEdgewater, N. J., Bud served in the U.S. Maritime Service before movingto Bay Shore, N.Y., where he owned an auto body repair shop for over 20years. He also was a member of the Bay Shore Fire Department, servingas captain of the Hook and Ladder Co. After moving to Friscoin1972, Bud opened Hatteras Originals cabinet shop and became well knownin the community for his skill with and passion for woodworking. Helater became affiliated with the Hatteras Island Marlin Club, where heserved for many years on the Board of Directors.
Budis preceded in death by his sisters, June Ballarine and VioletGhostlaw, a brother, James Buttke, his former wife, Marjorie ConnollyButtke, and also his former wife, Dorothy Wicks Buttke.
Inaddition to his wife, Karen, Bud is survived by his sister, ElizabethButtke of New York; his daughter, Maureen Kuretich of New York; and hissons, Dr. Thomas Buttke and wife Mary of Kitty Hawk Timothy Buttke ofNew York. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Linda Roth andTerry Kogot.
Leftto cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kristin Buttke, KimberlyLong, Tammy Tressler, Christopher Kuretich and great-grandchildren,Daniel Tressler and “CJ” Kuretich, along with his step-grandchildren,Alison Raver and Gregory Roth, and a step-great-grandson, BenjaminRaver.
Thefuneral will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Twiford FuneralHome on Kohler Road in Hatteras. Visitation will be from 11a.m.until noon prior to the service and Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.,also at Twiford Funeral Home in Hatteras. Following theservice,Mr. Buttke will be cremated, in accordance with his wishes. Inaddition to flowers, donations can be made in honor of Mr. Louis M.Buttke to the N.C.
