Share post:

A Tornado Watch is in effect for multiple areas of Eastern N.C. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, which includes Hatteras and Ocracoke islands.

The Tornado Watch was issued ahead of an approaching cold front which is expected to bring additional severe weather on Thursday night and Friday morning, including heavy rains, strong winds, and potential coastal flooding.

A Tornado Watch indicates that weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that are capable of producing tornadoes.

For more information on the severe weather ahead, see this morning’s weather update from the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office.
