Per the 5 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, all tropical storm warnings for the coast of North Carolina have been discontinued.
Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands are in the clear, however, high wind warnings remain in effect for coastal northeastern North Carolina, southeastern Virginia, and the eastern shore of Virginia and Maryland through this evening.
As of 5 p.m., the system was located 85 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras, however the islands remained sunny with minimal winds.
The Outer Banks did receive roughly 3-5 inches of rain attributed to the storm Monday night and early Tuesday morning, and motorists are urged to use caution when driving through remaining standing water on Highway 12.
Swells generated by this disturbance may affect portions of the North Carolina and Virginia coasts during the next day or so, creating potentially dangerous surf and rip current conditions.
