Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet assists disabled sport fisher across the bar

Share post:

Coast Guard crews aided a disabled vessel across the bar Sunday after the sport fisher experienced steering complications.

The incident happened about 6:35 p.m. about eight miles offshore, Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet said in a Facebook post.

“The vessel had been experiencing steering system complications and the possibility that they could potentially lose steering while crossing the bar became likely,” the post said. “With the tides ebbing and the bar beginning to break, our crew launched to assist the vessel and place them in tow.”

The crew posted a video of their tow approach with the vessel along with our inbound transit through the bar.
