Share post:

The Dare County League of Women Voters is partnering with the North Carolina Coastal Federation in sponsoring candidate forums via the Zoom webinar platform for the Dare County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education races.

“We want to insure everyone’s safety and also afford the opportunity for voters to see and hear their candidates speak and respond to questions about the issues that are important to them,” the league said in a statement.

The league said all candidates have agreed to participate.

The county commissioners candidate forum will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.

On the ballot are Steve House, Kathy McCullough-Testa, Amanda Hooper Walters, Bob Woodard, as well as unopposed candidates Danny Couch and Wally Overman.

The board of education candidate forum will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

On the ballot are Jen Alexander, Bea Basnight, Susan Bothwell, Charles Parker, David Twiddy and Carl Woody II and unopposed candidate Mary Ellon Ballance.

After registering, a link to attend the webinar will be sent to your inbox. This will allow you to join the webinar on the assigned date and time.

Questions for candidates in each race may be sent to DareLWV@gmail.com. Include your name and town.

The forums will also be recorded and made available on YouTube, Current TV and other local outlets.
