Sonya Lee Blivens Young

March 6, 1982 – November 23, 2021

Sonya Lee Blivens Young passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was born in Elizabeth City, NC on March 6, 1982, and was proud to call the Outer Banks home.

A vivacious young woman, she would light up the room with her crisp blue eyes and beautiful smile. Sonya was a woman of many talents that she was able to express in a wide variety of ways. Her empathetic nature enabled her to help others in so many different situations.

She was passionate about researching her family’s ancestry. She loved her community and was proud of being a direct descendant of W.O. Saunders.

Sonya is survived by her husband, Kristopher; her children, Rylee Elizabeth, Nancy Klaire “Peaches”, and Keegan Nelson Young; along with her parents, Robert and Sherrie Blivens. She also leaves behind many beloved close family members and cherished friends who will miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her brother, Alex Robert Blivens “Boo”; maternal grandparents, Charles L. and Nancy B. Smith; and paternal grandmother, Christine Spaulding.

Family was very dear to her but her greatest treasures in life were her children.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Old Nags Head Cove Club House, 4512 S Hesperides Dr., Nags Head, NC at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, an account for her children has been established in care of Kristopher M. Young at First National Bank, PO Box 399, Nags Head, NC 27959.
